In the waning hours of Ohio Governor Taft's administration, two sex crime bills were signed into law; Jessica's Law and Nicole's Law.

Jessica's Law mandates much longer sentences for specific sex crimes against our youngsters. The law mandates life without parole for the rape of a child under the age of ten. The worst case, depending on the victim's age, is 25 years to life.

Nicole's Law mandates an appearance before a judge prior to bail being set for "flashing" (our term) a minor child or committing any "sexually oriented offense" (their terms) against a minor child. The judge must now consider the suspect's history of prior offenses, the victim's age, and the suspect's mental health and propensity for violence before setting the alleged perp's bail.

Now if the judges will only follow the new laws!!
