The STUP

Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT)

A prior award winning STUP, Leahy is at it again. Known about town, Washington D.C. that is, as "leaky Leahy" this guy is responsible for more leaks than a cheap diaper. Because of his propensity to leak secret information, he was booted off the Senate Intelligence Committee in 1988.

Some of his more egregious acts of stupidity and hypocrisy, if not treason and complicity to murder, are:

• He allegedly divulged secret info about the Achille Lauro hijacking operation resulting in the death of an Egyptian operative. He "leaked" the secrets during a television interview.

• When President Reagan had a covert plan to take down Libya's terrorist leader, Moammar Gaddhafi, Leahy, in a letter to then CIA director Casey, threatened to spill the beans if Reagan persisted. A few weeks later, the story broke in the Washington Post and the plan was scrapped. Leahy denied culpability.

• In 1988, he was caught leaking secrets to a reporter about the upcoming Iran-Contra hearings. His colleagues were fed up! He was finally kicked off the committee.

Now "leaky" is chairman of the Judiciary Committee where he got all bent out of shape when Attorney General Gonzales wouldn't tell him about the secret methods of the NSA wiretaps. How could he reasonably expect anyone to trust him? The fact that he thought Gonzales would, only reinforces his STUP status.

And what an oxymoron; Leahy associated with intelligence.

Congrats, "Leaky Leahy" on winning the STUP, ........again.
