And the people say…………….

Don Imus Is Fired

We didn't want to comment on the Imus situation however, the Black community and the mainstream media are treating the situation as Armageddon. Woe is me it's the end times.

Last week, the week of 4/1/07, DJ Don Imus made reference to the members of the Rutgers University women's basketball team as "nappy-haired hos." The subsequent outcry resulted in the firing of Mr. Imus from his WFAN/ CBS morning radio show and from the simulcast of that show on MSNBC cable television.

One thing concerned us more than the firings. That concern being the double standard the Black community embraces regarding this matter. Virtually all of the comments by the Black leaders gave a free pass to the Black rap music culture that uses the same language that Imus used but the rappers use it to a much greater extent.

The language comprising the lyrics in most "gangsta rap" songs is crude gutter talk and is a reflection of the double standard of which we speak. Ho, bitch, and explicit references to rape, guns, killing and domestic violence are commonplace themes in gangsta rap music. And those who dare question this rap double standard are accused of redirecting the issue away from the "real issue" of Don Imus.

With insincere overtures of "crackdowns" on the rap music industry, the Reverends of Rap, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, were all over the TV screens condemning Don Imus for his "ho" remark yet voicing no condemnation of the rappers. We surmise that if you're Black it is acceptable to "sing" about beatin' yo ho and slappin' the bitch. Just don't make the mistake of being white and using Black language.

Imus was wrong for saying what he did, but a bit of advice to the reverends: Clean your own sewer before whining about your neighbor's stench.

Thank you ladies and gentlemen for your attention and have a good evening.

The bar is open.

How do you see it?
