The STUP Award
The Wisconsin State Senate
CSW 07-30
Last week we told you about Wisconsin's dilemma regarding what to call their fir tree sitting in the state house rotunda. Is it a "holiday tree" or a "Christmas tree?"
The state's House of Representatives approved Rep. Marlin Schneider's (D) recommendation to name the tree "Wisconsin's Christmas Tree." To be official, however, the State Senate had to approve the naming, also. Well, the senate felt it beneath them to consider such a measure and refused to bring the matter to a vote.
So this year the Wisconsin state house will remain secular and politically correct. No religion will be offended by calling the tree a Christmas Tree, although that's what it is, and we'll bet if you asked 99% of the state's populous, regardless of religion, what that beautifully decorated tree is called, they would refer to it as............... a "Christmas Tree."
Therefore, because of its Scrooge-like attitude and secular ideology, the Wisconsin State Senate is this week's STUP winner.
