And the people say…………….

Differential Contemplation

A stark contrast in ideas can be found in the following trains of thought. The first is by Jill Nelson, a Black writer and Obama supporter.

"Sen. Obama does not promise a return to the "good old days"--which weren't all that good for Black Americans and other minorities, or women--but eloquently evokes a future in which democratic values can become tangible and beneficial to all, at home and abroad. In articulating that vision, he raises the bar for the other candidates and the quality of the campaign." --- Jill Nelson

Eloquent to say the least; syrupy, pie in the sky rhetoric would be more accurate.

Below represents the interpreted score of a Barack Obama Loyalty Quiz that we participated in online from About.com! Very telling!!

"Your score is 0 on a scale of 1 to 10. You are a fierce opponent of Barack Obama. He is the embodiment of everything you despise in a politician: an elitist, morally superior, gun-grabbing, religion-bashing, terrorist-coddling appeaser who threatens all that is good and decent in America. Plus, he bowls like a girl."

Now usually we don't put much credence in these non-scientific, silly quizzes, but when they parallel our feelings as closely as this one did, well, ya just gotta start believin' in 'em.

Seriously, the more significant factor here is the contrast between what we think of Obama and what Ms. Nelson thinks of Obama. It demonstrates our theory: If you like Obama, there is virtually nothing that's going to dissuade your opinion and, dare we say it, especially if you're Black. And that will be the story of this election. And, if you think he's a brash, bratty, upstart, empty suit, run-of-the-mill politician, your opinion, too, is unlikely to change. Bottom line? Let's vote tomorrow and get back to work.

Thank you ladies and gentlemen for your attention and have a good evening.

The bar is open.

How do you see it?
