Past STUP Award winner Rep. John Murtha (D-PA) is being sued for defamation by this week's PERSPI winner, Marine Cpl. Justin Sharratt. Murtha accused Sharratt of killing women and children in Haditha, Iraq "in cold blood" and calling him a "cold-blooded murderer."
The suit: "Sharratt, in being labeled repeatedly by Murtha as a 'cold-blooded murderer,' and by Murtha outrageously claiming that the Haditha incident was comparable to the infamous (My Lai) massacre of Vietnam, has suffered permanent, irreversible damage to his reputation," so reads the lawsuit.
A military court found Sharratt innocent of wrongdoing. CSW wishes the Cpl. well in his suit against Murtha. It's about time these radical politicians are reigned in and held accountable.
