Fantastic comment response this week!

Re: 08-23 Letterman Bombs Every Night, But…..

  • Hey Ed, knock it off on Bill O'Reilly. He's one of my favorites. Tells it like it is. What's your problem with O'Reilly other than your erroneous stupid comments? O'Reilly reminds me of you in your younger days. By the way, I attended a meeting recently with the guest speaker John Kasich ( I presume you are aware of who he is) what a wonderful man. He also tells it like it is and he may run for Governor of OHIO. He will get my vote.

Ed. Note: First, my quote from last week: "Obama rivals Bill O'Reilly of FOX News as one the most egotistical, narcissistic individuals I am aware of." Now, which word has you stumped, rivals, egotistical or narcissistic? What comment do you find "stupid?" O'Reilly's show has good content; I just don't care for O'Reilly's self-centeredness. His condescending habit of calling people by their last name e.g. Miller for Dennis Miller, Morris for Dick Morris, Stossel for John Stossel, Kelly for Megyn Kelly, Wheil for Lis Wheil, Doocy for Steve Doocy, to name a few, is maddening. He's trying to exhibit his self perceived superiority and machismo.

Second, you are right, Kasich isn't bad. He would make a better governor than he did a Representative. And he would have our vote, too, depending on the competition. Did you tell him about CSW?

P.S. My younger days?? O'Reilly reminds you of me in my younger days? I don't know how to take that.

Re: 08-23 Op-Ed #1

  • I am a working mom. I have two children. Ms. Walters is correct in her assessment of the media's treatment of Sarah Palin. Give this woman a break. The left can do nothing but tear her down. There was a point in my life when I thought about a political career. After the last few elections and especially this, I wouldn't go into politics if I were starving.

Ed. Note: Ms. Walter's article was right on. The dems went with black and caustic rather than black and female and the Republicans capitalized with Palin. The media, in the tank for Obama, can't stand it that they were outflanked and now attack their enemy, Sarah Palin. NBC's Andrea Mitchell and The View's resident whacko Joy Behar have attacked the price Ms. Palin paid (they were bought for her, you dingbats) for her campaign wardrobe. Do they question Obama's tailor-made suits?

Re: 08-23 Op-Ed #2

  • Excellent points made in this piece. I don't agree that you are getting too excited and need to "relax." You're doing a super job.

Ed. Note: What can we say other than "thank you."

Re: 08-23 Op-Ed #3

  • I enjoyed the good words by the fellow with the same last name as yours. Related?

Ed. Note: Good words from a good man, my brother.

Re: 08-23 Obama's Tax Plans

  • ===HIGHER TAXES== regardless of what is promised, the only thing we can be sure to get in the next four years, is more tax and less benefits.
I doubt if we will ever see a booming US economy in our life time.
Wonder how much money the Government can spent before it has to disband. Remember USSR?

Ed. Note: Obama's tax plans are precursors to socialism. The younger generations are ignorant of the significance of that because the liberal professors in universities today fail to teach socialism and its related pitfalls. Democrats have been moving toward socialism for years with their entitlements and redistribution of the wealth.

(Socialism: a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done. Websters)

Re: 08-23 For What Its Worth

  • "After the election, we will have had eight years of blaming President Bush for everything regardless of who was at fault. Under an Obama administration we will have four more years of the same blame game. Change? Who are they kidding?"
    Dear Ed,
You sure got this right. The next 4 years will still be GW Bush's fault for every failed program that the Dem's will attempt and the financial problems that will follow. You can already hear and see it coming. It must be great to be a Liberal and never have to take responsibility for anything that doesn't quite work out and take the credit for everything that does work out.

Ed. Note: The fact that the dems will continue to blame President Bush for their own shortcomings for at least the next 4 years is a given. This opinion is shared by many. Here is what Joe Biden said Sunday, 10/19/08, in Seattle: "We're gonna find ourselves in real trouble when we get elected. This is gonna be really hard. This is gonna be really, really, really hard."

Re: 08-24 For What Its Worth - Extra

  • It would be nice to hear what General Swartzkoff has to say about Colin Powell since it was Swartzkoff that won that war over there. To me Powell is nothing more than a smooth talking CYA Politician. When you really get down to it what are Colin Powell's accomplishments??????

Ed. Note: Your inquiries are echoed and perhaps answered by another reader's comments coming up.

Re: 08-24 For What Its Worth - Extra

  • When I heard about this I about passed out! Weeeee! this downhill slope sure is steeper than I thought !

Ed. Note: Not surprising to anyone, but Powell's reasoning for endorsing Obama falls short of logical.

Re: 08-24 For What Its Worth - Extra

  • Just wanted to let you know that I am TOTALLY against McCain, don't have enough time to explain, but still proud to be a German born American !!
As you can tell, I am not getting into politics, because I feel so strong against Bush, I am afraid my blood pressure goes up every time I talk to one of his supporters. You should go to Europe and hear what they have to say about our good country and leader !!! But, this is a free country and everyone is entitled to his/her opinion. !!!

Ed. Note: I think I'll stay right here. To be blunt, I don't really care what Europeans think about Americans. For the most part they have little room to criticize anyone. They seem to love America when we're bailing them out of a war or lending them billions in aid. Frankly, I'm tired of it.

Re: 08-24 For What Its Worth - Extra

  • I would have to take exception to your opening sentence. I never thought Powell was worth a darn during the Gulf War. If you recall, he fought for just placing further sanctions on Iraq and trying to convince them to play nicely. Once it was clear Bush 41 had something further in mind, he complained that only massively overwhelming force could possibly defeat Saddam’s superior army, then he dragged his feet on building-up. Norman Schwarzkopf said Powell was good at playing the political games of Washington but his “military strategy was questionable at best,” AND it was Powell who pulled the plug on letting Schwarzkopf finish the Gulf War. Tommy Franks’ book painted the same pacifist picture of Powell going all the way back to Vietnam. Before 9/11, Powell was even whining that we should lift the sanctions on Iraq!
His endorsement of Obama was NO surprise whatsoever.

Ed. Note: What I was referring to was all was fine with Powell personally. He was top dog and was receiving accolades from Americans and loving every minute of it. However, your comments get right to the crux of the problems with Powell. Can we trust a man who said he had info disputing all of our intelligence reports and still goes before the world to convince them Bush was right and war is needed? Then later says I told you so about there being no WMDs? Why didn't he resign? As far as I am concerned, Obama can have him.

Re: 08-24 For What Its Worth - Extra

  • After reading your "A Finger in the Eye" article this morning, all I could think of was this audio clip that Howard Stern of all people made possible. You had better be sitting down, because this is absurd. After hearing this, you will no longer need to qualify any statements with things like "not meant to be racist in any way."
Thanks for the opinion and commentary, it's much appreciated and needed with all the BS that floating around the media these days.
    VIDEO - PLEASE WATCH

Ed. Note: I could take a whole day to comment on the ridiculousness of the interviewees in that clip. Howard Stern is a vile shock jock that I'm surprised questioned the African/American reasoning. I find the video fascinating.

Thank you ladies and gentlemen for your attention and have a good evening.

The bar is open.

How do you see it?
